October is over and our Achieve 3000 winners have been rewarded. The class with the highest Lexile growth in each grade level received pizza for lunch today. In 6th grade we had Ms. Seymour's 4th block class, in 7th grade Mrs. Thomas' 5th block class and in 8th grade we had Coach Trew's 4th block class. Congratulations to these teachers and their hard working students for showing significant growth in the month of October.
Today as part of our year long literacy celebration, Camden Reads, we celebrated Non-Fiction day at CMS. We wanted to find out who our "Truth Sleuths" were. The students took a Fact or Fiction survey during homeroom today and each grade level had a winner. Our 6th grade winner got 21 of the questions correct, in 7th grade our winner got 22 of the questions correct and our 8th grade winner missed only one of the 25 questions! Mrs. Lott's class had a great time diving into some of their favorite literary characters this week. They had the opportunity to pick a character and bring it to life on their pumpkins. The storybook pumpkin patch was a big hit!

Our CMS Builders club is at it again dedicated to serving the community with our annual food drive. Cougar nation collected a total of 917 items and donated money to purchase 9 turkeys that will help families in our community this Thanksgiving! The decorated boxes looked fabulous. Mrs. Seymour's sixth grade class collected the most cans and sixth grade overall had the most donations. Thank you to our amazing students, parents and staff for your help in making this food drive successful.

CMS boys basketball tryouts are right around the corner. They will be held in the CMS gym on December 7th from 3:00-5:30 PM and December 9th from 3:00-4:30 PM. All boys grades 6-8 are welcome to tryout but must have a current physical on file. Make sure to sign up for the group me to get more information about workouts before tryouts.

Yesterday we started Red Ribbon Week off strong with our "Wear Red" day. Everywhere you looked students, teachers and staff were all rocking their red. Our student council even handed out red bracelets to students at lunch. However our 6th graders came in full force winning popsicles at lunch today for being the grade level that wore the most red yesterday.
Yearbooks are on sale now at a discounted price of $35 until 11/30/2026. Starting 12/1/26 the price increases to $40. Only a limited number of books will be sold and once they are gone, they are gone. This past weekend some of our CMS students got out into the community for a great cause. The CMS Band and Builders Club were out on Saturday morning at the Alzheimer's walk to raise money and awareness for the Camden County Alzheimer's Project.

Support Alzheimer’s Awareness by wearing purple. Students can also make a $1 donation that will go to the Camden County Alzheimer's Project and they get to wear their favorite hat all day.
Then:
Tomorrow is PBIS incentive day for the first 9 weeks. Students must meet eligibility requirements to participate.
During lunch students can use a PAWS card to get a bag of popcorn and they may use additional PAWS cards to enter to win some great prizes.
After lunches eligible students will be able to have some fun with their classmates. Concessions will be sold during this time starting at $3 so students may bring money to buy concessions.

As we observe National School Bus Safety Week, we want to remind everyone in our community to take a few extra moments to help protect our students as they travel to and from school each day.
The morning and afternoon commutes are some of the busiest times on our roads, and a little extra patience and attention go a long way!
🚗 For Drivers:
Stop for school buses when the stop arm is extended and red lights flash.
Obey all posted school zone speed limits.
Never pass a stopped school bus from either direction when required by law.
Stay alert for students near roadways, bus stops, and crosswalks.
🎒 For Parents & Students:
Arrive at the bus stop a few minutes early and wait a safe distance from the road.
Cross only when instructed by the driver, and always look left, right, and left again.
Use designated crosswalks and never cross behind a school bus.
Put phones and headphones away while walking to stay aware of surroundings.
Thank you for doing your part to ensure every student arrives safely and returns home with a smile!
