Camden County Schools will be closed to students on Friday, September 4, for a scheduled Teacher Workday/Professional Learning Day and on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.

Our Cougar Cafe is back up and running for the year. The students are delivering smiles, encouragement, and caffeine to the faculty and staff at CMS!

6th Grade Parents: Wondering what middle school is like for your student? Come join us for "A Walk in my Shoes" on September 15th from 4:00-5:00 PM. You will have the opportunity follow your student's schedule and get to learn how things work at CMS.

Ms. Seymour’s 6th Grade Social Studies classes are stepping off the yellow brick road and using the movie The Wizard of Oz to kick off Unit 1!

They are
• Exploring how location affects culture/development, how humans and environments affect each other, and how moving people and ideas shapes societies.
• Drawing conclusions and making generalizations and drawing conclusions from maps as they evaluate Oz's habitats, culture, and transportation.
•Designing original maps of Oz complete with essential spatial features—including titles, full compass roses with cardinal and intermediate directions, map keys/legends, and graphic measurement scales.

Yesterday’s Builders Club meeting was all about showing love to the incredible teachers and staff at Camden Middle School! Our members rolled up their sleeves, got creative, and spent the afternoon writing personalized notes of appreciation and encouragement to brighten our teachers' week.

Camden Middle School is excited to launch the Skills USA after school club. Skills USA is a national nonprofit workforce development organization that helps middle school, high school, and college students build skills for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations. This includes personal skills, workplace skills, and technical skills. If you feel like your child has an interest in this club have them sign up during lunch this week! First meeting is September 1, 2026 from 3:00-3:30 in Mrs. Thomas’ room located on 7th grade hall. Snacks will be provided. Want to know more about Skills USA? Mrs. Kiser's 6th grade science classes had to reach outside of their comfort zones and learn how to work cooperatively with their classmates. They learned that they can do so much more if they communicate and work together.

Please be aware that during light rain, we will not hold students at CMS. However, if they wish to remain until the rain subsides, they are always welcome. During heavy storms and lightning, we will hold walkers and bike riders here. You may then pick up your child in our car rider line, or wait for us to release them once the storm passes. If we decide it is not safe for them to walk or bike home, a text message alert will go out from the school.

Step into the magic of the holiday season! Camden County High School is hosting auditions for our annual production of The Nutcracker! 🩰✨

Whether you are a seasoned dancer or looking to try something new, all dance levels in grades 6–12 are welcome to participate.

Bus Safety Reminder

As our students settle into a new school year, we ask everyone in our community to take a few extra moments to help keep them safe as they travel to and from school.

Whether you’re driving through a neighborhood, approaching a school bus stop, or traveling near a school campus, please stay alert. Slow down, eliminate distractions, and watch carefully for students who may be walking, riding bicycles, or crossing the street.

For drivers:
• Stop for school buses when the stop arm is extended and the red lights are flashing.
• Obey posted school zone speed limits.
• Never pass a stopped school bus unless permitted by law.
• Stay alert for students at bus stops, crosswalks, and near roadways, especially during the busy morning and afternoon hours.

For parents and students:
• Arrive at bus stops a few minutes early and wait a safe distance from the roadway.
• Cross the street only when instructed by the bus driver, and always look left, right, and left again before crossing.
• Use designated crosswalks whenever possible and never cross behind a school bus.
• Stay aware of your surroundings by keeping phones and headphones put away while walking.

The start and end of the school day are some of the busiest times on our roads. A little extra patience and attention can help ensure every student arrives safely at school and returns home safely each day.

Excited to kick off the first day of school back in Cougar Nation at Camden Middle School! Looking forward to a great year ahead with amazing friends, fantastic teachers, and plenty of school spirit. Let’s make this year the best one yet!

Tennis Tryouts will be held August 11-14 from 2:45-4:15
Meet at CR-15 (Coach Wood's room on the 7th grade hallway after buses are dismissed.
You must have an updated physical on file with the school prior to tryouts.

Make sure to bring:
Racquet
Plenty of water, Gatorade/Powerade if you need it
Running shoes (court shoes if you have it)
Lightweight clothing

It was so great to see Cougar Nation alive with students and families last night at our annual open house. We can't wait to get back to doing what we do best here at Camden Middle School, LEARNING, next week.
